What's New in TestArchitect 8.1 Update 2
The following new features and improvements are introduced in the latest version of TestArchitect running under Windows.
TestArchitect Automation
New features
-
Support for Android 5.0
Test automation on Android 5 is now supported. The supported types of AUTs include native Android apps, WebView and Google Chrome, up to version 41. -
Lexical scoping
With this alternative to dynamic scoping (the previous default mode of TestArchitect), the scope of a local variable does not extend into action calls. This means that a local variable is only accessible within the block in which it is declared, but not in its child blocks. (Note that, while lexical scoping is now the default, dynamic scoping may be restored by setting the built-in lexical scoping setting to no.)
Enhancements to existing features
-
ignore tabs and newlines built-in setting
Ignoring of tab and newline characters is now supported on additional platforms, such as Java, mobile (Android, iOS), etc. - Support for transmission of tab() and newline() characters for various user-interface actions such as set and enter.
-
scroll to view built-in action is now supported on the following platforms:
-
Android:
- Native Android apps
- Google Chrome
- WebView
-
iOS:
- Native iOS apps
- Safari
- WebView
-
Android:
- New additional Android 5 controls are supported including: toolbar and menu bar.
- The TextSwitcher Android control is remapped to the text switcher TA control, instead of label.
- The SearchView Android control is remapped to the search view TA control, instead of textbox.
Known Issues
- Auto Highlight on the Interface Viewer’s toolbar inaccurately displays the positions of controls when the AUT is in full screen mode.
- On occasion, the Android Instrumentation Tool displays more than one identical copy of a connected Android device in its Devices panel.
- At times, Device Live Screen , although active, remains in the background, and may be obscured by other windows.
Resolved Issues
-
When defining available modifiers for a Value Set argument, if a value has a comma anywhere inside it, TestArchitect parses the value into two smaller chunks.
-
For example, if you define "Obama, Barack", "Bush, George", the Content Assist in the editor displays four values:
- "Obama
- Barack"
- "Bush
- George".
-
The correct one only displays two values including:
- Obama, Barack
- Bush, George.
-
For example, if you define "Obama, Barack", "Bush, George", the Content Assist in the editor displays four values:
- Multi-line texts are not displayed correctly when you copy content from another test editor and then paste the content into the Description and Argument Modifier fields of an argument’s action.
- When importing test cases from Zephyr into TestArchitect, step numbers are not mapped correctly.
- The TestArchitect installation process is terminated abruptly when the installation file is run directly through web browsers.
